Lugansk State Academy of Culture and Arts named after M. Matusovsky

With the help of a search engine, you can search for documents and view information about them. Search documents can be both by attributes (Author, title, other output data) and the attribution of documents to a particular topic.

Classifiers are designed to facilitate the search for necessary documents. The headings in the classifiers are called topics. Each topic has subtopics, etc.

Each document can be assigned to one or several topics, and in any of them you can find it.

Classifiers are created in the system and any of them can be used. To find the necessary documents, selecting the 'Classifiers' option, we get a full list of them on the screen.

If you select a specific directory, the topics contained in it will be displayed. For example, choose the directory 'Ключевые слова' and see all the topics that you can use to search for documents.

Choosing one of the themes, we open it, that is, we display all its sub-themes, etc. Continue searching this way until you find the right topic or stop on a topic that is no longer being revealed, because it does not have sub-topics. If you can not find the topic you need, try Search topics by context.

If you can not find a topic in the hierarchy of classifiers, you can try to find it in context, that is, select topics in which the title contains the specified text. To do this, enter the required text in the 'Search for a topic' field and click 'Search'.

A list of topics that match the search condition appears. Select the necessary topic and you will go to the search page, where this topic will be revealed.

When searching by attributes, you can select documents whose attributes (Fields of bibliographic description, such as 'Author', 'Title', 'Language', etc.) have the necessary meanings.

To select documents by the value of an attribute, enter the desired value (or the first few characters) in the corresponding field. In this case, the register of entered characters is not taken into account. For example, if you type 'a' in the 'Author' field, then all documents whose author starts with 'a' or with 'A' will be selected. If you enter 'an ', then all documents whose author begins with 'AN', 'An', 'aH' or 'an'.

When searching by name, you can search not only for the title of the title, but also for the individual words that enter the name. If, for example, in the field 'Document name' enter the words 'local' and 'self-management', then all documents with the names of these words will be selected.

Some attributes, such as 'Language' or 'Document Type', have a fixed list of possible values. Therefore, for them, the value is not entered, but is selected from the proposed list.

The attribute search is combined with the search in the classifiers, so if you select a specific topic, the attribute search will only be performed among documents related to that topic.

Example 1

Let's say we need to check if there is a certain book in the library on local government, of which we know such information: the name is 'Local government', 'The role of local government' or something like that; We set the search conditions in this way:

Example 2

Let's say we need to check if there is a Ukrainian human rights magazine in the library about which we know such information: the title is 'The People's Right', 'People's Rights' or something like that. We set the search conditions in this way:

Example 3

Let's say that we need to check the availability in the library of an article from a periodical on the problem of local self-government, of which we know such information: the author is Ivy; The title is 'Місцеве самоврядування', 'The role of місцевого самоврядування' or something like that. We set the search conditions in this way:

After the required selection conditions have been entered, specify how many documents to display on one page (the default value is 30) and click the 'Select' button at the top or bottom of the search form. In addition to the search results on the page, the search conditions (for control), the total number of documents found and the range of documents will be displayed.

If the found documents are 0, check the search conditions. Perhaps, extra conditions were entered or some data entered incorrectly (for example, a spelling mistake was made). If everything is entered correctly, this means that the relevant documents The library does not exist or information about them has not yet been entered in the database of the system.

If the system finds the documents corresponding to the entered conditions, their list will be displayed. At the end of the list, links to subsequent and previous pages are displayed on each page With search results. If there is no document on the first page, click the link 2 At the bottom of the page, then 3 and so on. However, some pages can be skipped, you can go back several pages. So leaf through the pages until you find the document you need. If the number of selected documents is very large, Try to specify more precise selection conditions and repeat the search.

The list shows only the most important information about the documents. If you need more detailed information about the document, select the link ' Document Description '.
